Quickr and Connectios available at ibm.com/partnerworld

I already got Quickr for Domino, I am getting now Quickr for Websphere Portal. Then Lotus Connections.

I need to see the Quickr for Portal, I have been testing Quickr for Domino and it is really nice. The comments I have for Lotus Connections is the only Lotus thing in Connections is the name. You don't need even Websphere Portal to run it, so, it is in the Lotus brand but you will need the products from Websphere, DB2 and Tivoli (LDAP - need to check if Domino LDAP is ok) tu run it.

Quickr - Websphere Portal and Domino versions

I installed Quickr (beta) on my Domino server 7.0.2 with no problems last week, I've also heard that people playing with the Portal version are having some performance problems. So, if you are a Domino customers you will go of course for the Domino version, but what happens if you are a Domino and Websphere Portal customer, or just a Websphere Portal customer.

For example, the applications being developed by Snapps will be available for the Portal version ?

In Ed Brill's blog some folks (including me) asked about Quickr, one of the responses came from http://quickrblog.com/ which looks interesting, even he is not an IBMer.

I know IBM is selling Quickr as a solution instead of Quickr for Domino/Portal, but would be nice to see what you are missing/getting from Quickr based on the platform you will install it on.

Lotus Workflow

I few weeks ago I was thinking about Lotus Workflow. What a nice product, I started to work with it when it was ProcessWare from OneStone (Germany) , then Lotus bought the product and renamed it to Domino Workflow and then to Lotus Workflow when Lotus Development Corporation joined IBM.

I really enjoyed working with the Architect.

Is there anyone out there still using it ? I can see some current posts in the Forum. I was very involved with this product. See all my posts in the LWF Forum:

I also participated in an IBM Residency where we wrote a book about Lotus Workflow 3.x. I am not sure if the book can be published here. The original target was IBM customers. I will check it out and will put it here if I can, I have the digital version.

Weight Loss progress

Started when: 92 Kgs
1 week progress: 0.2 Kgs
Total lost: 2.0 Kgs
Actual weight: 90.00 Kgs

I guess the cheeseburger and chicken wings I had during the week didn't help. Let's try harder next week.

By the way, I am going to Venezuela next Friday for 2 weeks. We are so happy we will see our families again. I need to be prepared because I will eat all those things I can't eat/find/cook here in the US.

I am looking to lose some weight..

Following Carl Tyler's method to lose weight by publishing the results everyweek I am pretty sure it will help me as well. I think the point is that you commit yourself to work harder by checking your progress and letting everybody know about it is even better, you have a public commitment.

In my last diet we used to track our progress with a blue pen or red pen, depending of the progress.

Started when: 92 Kgs
1 week progress: 2.2 Kgs
Total lost: 2.2 Kgs
Actual weight: 89.98 Kgs.

When I first started this diet I was 100 Kgs and I lost 17 Kgs in 3 months, all this happened between Feb and May 2006. When I moved to the US in Sept '06, I was 85 Kgs, and then I got 7 more to be in 92 kgs. Here in the US the food is not that different from the venezuelan one, with the exception of additives, I guess that's why here we can find a lot of organic food, in Venezuela everything is pretty much organic.

I have lost these 2.2 Kgs by eating less Carbs, doing 45 minutes of bike every weekday and at least 100 abs.

Buy.com sucks !

I have been buying cheap and expensive items on the internet for a while, I have had a great experience with Amazon.com. But 2 weeks ago I decided to try with Buy.com, well, it went pretty bad.

I was looking for a Memory Card, they had it in their website marked as "In stock", the status changed to "Sent to warehouse" really fast (of course after they charged my Credit Card), then, stayed there for 1 week, now it is "On Order" which means:

"We are making every effort to ship your product to you as soon as possible. Unless your item is on pre-order, our supplier has not given us an expected arrival date.
We'll send you eMails updating you on the status of your order. You may cancel any item that is not in stock up to the day the product ships by clicking on 'cancel item' from within your order summary."

First, they never sent an email informing the order was put "On Order", second, when I called to cancel the order, they said that they were going to "Request a Cancel", and I had to wait from 3 to 5 business days to see if their deparment would cancel the order.

Buy.com, if you are offering a product, say the truth, you don't have it, ok, let me decide if I want to wait. You are taking too much time, let me cancel the order, don't ask me to wait until you see if you can deliver it before the next 5 business days after the day I cancelled the order.

To all those guys having the same issue, this is their Support Number Buy.com: 1-800-800-0800 or 1-877-880-1030. I wonder why they make so hard to find it.

IBM Lotus Notes 8 Mail Template

I have been running the Notes 8 client for a while. Last week I decided to apply the Notes 8 beta 3 mail template to my local Mail replica, it works great, and the look and feel is amazing. I had to follow some simple steps to not send these design changes to the server and to now receive design from server, basically, my mail db is replicating just documents now.

If you want to do the same, follow the next steps:

1.- Right click the Mail DB Icon (Local Replica) and select Replication -> Options for this Application.

2.- Select the Advanced tab and disable replication for Agents and Design Elements. Verify that the this settings apply when "Your Name" receive from "Any Server".

3.- Repeat step 1 for the Mail Replica located on the server.

4.- Repeat step 2. In this case, verify that this setting apply when "Your Server" receive from "Any Server" (if it doesn't replicate to other servers) or "Your Name" (if there are more servers involved in the replication process)

5.- Now, apply the Notes 8 beta 3 Mail Template to your local mailfile.
